help me drive away the darkness
I often stare out into the night
wondering what lies out there beyond my sight

stay here pleasant dreaming
everything's alright it's seeming
and I know it's perfectly rational
why the dark must not be explored

still I wonder what it's like...
what lies out there in the night

breathe the salty air that takes me places far away
I often stare out there across the horizon
wondering what lands lie beyond

I wonder what I'm waiting for
why I don't pierce the waters with an oar
and I know it's perfectly rational
why the sea must not be explored

still I wonder what it's like...
on distant shores and distant isles

won't you sit with me beneath the stars?
my imagination bringing life to constellations
I often stare out into the heavens
wondering what lies out there in the cosmos

lay here staring at the sky
my thoughts climbing up that high
and I know it's perfectly rational
why we cannot walk the stars

still I wonder what it's like...
what lies out there in the skies

won't you sit with me awhile?
close your eyes and lose yourself in thoughts and daydreams
I often think about this world
and wonder if there is something greater

this world's so very certain
yet it's outskirts are so curtained
and I know its perfectly rational
why we have these boundaries

still I wonder what's beyond them
and I have the urge to cross them
mayhap one day I will find a way
and I'll place my foot across them

...what will I become then?
