Tynian: Thank you/changes/TFC's death Wed Nov 28 09:16:10 2001 To: all I'd like to take a moment to say thanks to those of you that have placed your faith in me, in regards to the recent changes. I know the fairies of negativity are out there, going out of their way to find fault and spread discontent with the changes to date, but I have been pleased that many of you have either openly supported or have adopted a "wait and see" attitude towards the changes. Open-mindedness is not the easiest path to follow. Again, thank you. The damage cap: It is staying. I think it makes sense, and gives me flexibility that I did not have before. Damage absorption: I don't believe damage absorption (as it currently works) has a place any longer, as it was created in part to combat 'damageism', which I have finally corrected with the cap. I have an idea on what to do with it, which I will discuss with some of you when the time comes. Damage absorption changes will happen only after most of the other changes have been made, as I will want to evaluate +da in terms of the upcoming changes. Once this series of changes is complete, I will likely increment us to version 4. Several fundamental changes have or will have taken place by then, so it makes sense. I commented earlier that if TFC is unsustainable, I would close it down. Some of you wondered what that meant. I have come up with a definition. If average activity for any two consecutive complete months that TFC has been up and available falls below 18.5, that's probably the end. I have little desire to see TFC dwindle into nothingness. I'll put a stop to it before then. Our average activity for the year is 18.4, and four months this year have fallen below 18.5. October was 20.0, and so far, November is at 19.5.
